Frank Martin's Bio

Frank Graduated from the University of Miami in 1989 and went on to work for local company Image Devices as a camera tech. Over the next two years he gained valuable experience in all aspects of the camera department while working on and off set with many top Cameramen and assistants as he began to AC in the local market.

Frank’s real interest and passion was always lighting and to this end he went to work as a lighting tech at Cinevideotech in Miami. After two more years and a summer in Rockport, Maine at The Master Lighting Workshops, he decided to go off on his own as a freelance Gaffer.

Frank quickly became one of the the youngest Gaffers in Miami and over the next four years had the opportunity to light hundreds of music videos and commercials with some of the most respected DOP’s including Bill Butler ASC, Mario Tosi ASC, Ellen Kuras ASC, Arthur Algort, Tami Reiker, Jeff Cronenworth and Craig Califano.

To gain additional big picture experience Frank filled in slow times by working as a set lighting tech on “Wild Things”, “Speed II”, “Bad Boys”, “Fast and Furious II”, “Any Given Sunday”, “Bad Boys II”, “Plato’s Run” and “Contact”.

He joined the 600 began to operate more and more and spent 9 months operating the “A” camera for the television series “Teens”.

Frank finally fulfilled his ambition to become a DOP in his own right and keeps busy shooting Commercials, Music Videos and TV.

His enthusiasm and talent has already begun to garner awards in commercials and music videos and he recently achieved a lifelong ambition to lens a first feature film. Frank was cinematographer for the film ‘Jarring’ directed by Ivo Raza. It was the first theatrical release filmed entirely on the REDONE camera system in South Florida.' He is now gearing up for his second picture on the newly MX updated RED cameras. Production begins Aug. 9th.
